New Treatment to Restore Tooth Socket Developed

A research team from the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology and the Health Sciences University of Hokkaido has a new treatment that will promote the regeneration of the tissues surrounding the tooth, including bone, cementum and ligament.

The research team has tested the technique, a spongy mixture and a substance found inside teeth, on dogs. Tissues began to recover within a month and were completely regenerated within three months.

Testing on humans is next. In the worst case, a human might grow another fang. But, no big deal.

The inner tooth material can also be artificially synthesized.periodontitis.jpg

Good news for those who have lost bone due to advanced periodontitis.

When I passed the mid-century point in my life, it seems my teeth started falling apart. Perhaps this research will be advanced enough by the time I need it.

How are your teeth?
