New Imperial Baby Boom

Japanese business leaders think that the first baby boy born into the Imperial family in 40 years could give a multi-billion dollar boost to the economy.

One economist says, “The birth is expected to encourage young couples to have babies and lead to a rise in the birth rate which could improve individual consumption….”

You would think a savior of a different type was born.

Department stores are expected to have extra sales to celebrate the birth…

The chairman of Japan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry sounded off, “This renews my honor and respect for the history and tradition of the country.”

In other words…it’s gotta be a boy, it’s gotta be a boy.

I, for one, was hoping that there would be no boy to ascend to the throne and that Japan would have to face the prospects of having an Empress.

It is evident that the Japanese still do not see boys and girls as equal quite yet.

What do you think?
