NEC Corp. becomes more ECO-friendly

With the swoop of a calligraphy brush, NEC Corp. has suddenly become much more eco-friendly.

The company has decided to add more of its EcoSymbol label to more of its products.

Information systems with the EcoSymbol mark, supposedly help companies reduce CO2 emissions by more than half or by more than 1500 tons a year.

So far, 10 products have the label – Internet conferencing networks, onlineecosymbol.jpg banking and so on.

NEC aims with the program to reduce paper consumption and the need to commute to meet or do business.

NEC decided other systems need the symbol. Waseda University reduced CO2 emissions by 78 tons by developing an online registration system.

If NEC can capitalize on the use of its EcoSymbol, the company thinks it can attract sales to other universities…all in the name of being nice to the environment….

Uh, right.

(Save the planet = make more money), is the formula on their minds, I think.

What do you think?
