Japan's Kaneka Corp. will invest abt 4 billion yen to build a plant in Texas that will produce polymers for modified silicone sealants, used in building exteriors and automobiles.
With the Japanese car business going great guns in America, the company figures, correctly, it would be better to produce locally, rather than export its MS polymer to America from Europe and Japan.
If the company produces locally, it also figures it can concentrate on developing markets in Eastern Europe and countries in Asia outside of Japan.![]()
Oh, and there is a new Toyota facility that has started churning out Tundra trucks, isn't there?
The new plant will begin operating in the spring of 2009.
Texas will be pleased to offer jobs for future chemists.
