More and More Good News for GM in Japan?

Suzuki Motor Corporation will dissolve its ties with GM in Japan.

Suzuki will stop distributing the Chevy made Trailblazer SUV and the Optra wagon. Suzuki will also stop making and selling the Chevy Cruise.

GM and Suzuki have been friends since 1981. In April of this year, GM proved money is more important than friendship when it sold off 17% of its Suzuki shares and kept just 3%.

Last year GM sold ALL of its stake in Fuji Heavy Industries, maker of Subaru cars and its stake in Isuzu, a Japanese truck maker.

GM’s absence at Suzuki may be filled by Nissan Motor, but that is still speculative.

What isn’t speculation is that GM is on its way out of Japan, of Asia, of the top spot it has held for three quarters of a century.

GM is hurting big time.
