Mobile Phone = Mobile Filth in Japan

Japanese pre-teens have cell phones, too…and they know how to go online, visit community sites, and make friends…the wrong kinds of friends.

One magazine calls it 'mobile filth.'

Net-equipped phones make it possible for young kids, elementary school kids, to post their info – I-wanna-friend, notices at various places online.

Big problem – weirdos and perverts, and for some reason Japan has an extra abundance of such jerks, can go to those websites, too.

Yomiuri, Japan's biggest newspaper, and owner of the Yomiuri Giants, is making a big deal of the link between cell-phones and teen prostitution.mobile.filth.jpg

Kids are able to get themselves into trouble using legitimate sites, that are

'safe' even aimed at children and preteens.

Youtube doesn't help – 6 boys thought it would be 'fun' to beat up a classmate and film it with their cell phones and post it online.

The solution?

Uh, what solution.

If there is one, it starts with the parents. Moms and dads need to get involved with their kids.

And, why would a kid need to go online with their cell phone anyway? Is there anything so urgent that it can't wait till they get home?

Or is 'mobile filth' inevitable?
