Mitsubishi Heavy Industries has developed a robot that can investigate natural disaster and sites attacked by terroists.

The robot – MHR MARS-G, MHR MARS-G for short (the thing needs a nickname) costs about $180,000 and Mitsubishi hopes to sell 5-10 units a year.

Kind of hard for them to hope business is good, eh? Can’t hope for more natural disasters and terroist attacks, can they?

The robot can go for two hours on a lithium-ion battery, preferably NOT one made by Sony.

It is about 3 feet long, 1 and 3/4 feet wide and 1 and 1/4 feet tall (1 meter x 50cm x 40cm) and weighs about 120lbs (55kg).

Mitsubishi has robots that can inspect nuclear facilities also.

Let’s hope that Mitsubishi’s sales for these puppies is bad…really really bad.

What do you think?
