Mia Mei

Mia Mei.

It's a name. It's the name of a very little person, the smallest I have ever held, about the size of a large cell phone. It even has an alarm that will wake you up whenever it wants to.

My wife and I had a baby this afternoon. Tiny little Mia Mei (5lbs 11oz – 18"). I have two sons that were 30% and 40% larger than she was when they started out.

Being born three weeks early on a stormy night with low air pressure fronts moving in may have something to do with her getting here early. The nurses think so, as do the families of about 15-18 other couples who over-filled the labor and delivery unit. Kind of like trying to put the whole litter of kittens in a Chinese take out box.

"The inductions are going to have to wait. There's a flood," said the nurse speaking of how many women had their water break… my wife included.

The baby is beautiful – nothing like a dried up pink raisen.

Had a baby today, my wife and I did.

I remember now. Having the baby is the easy part. It's the coming years that offer challenges.

I can't wait!

Welcome! Mia Mei!
