Market Share – Movies in Japan

Japanese are seeing more movies – revenues were up 2.4% to Y202.9 billion.

But…they are seeing more Japanese flicks – 32% more while foreign films suffered an 18.4% drop!

It's the first time in more than two decades that the takes of domestic films was greater than foreign films.

Toho Co. showed eight of the top 10 domestic movies.

Second place Buena Vista showed Walt Disney flicks, including

"Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" 

"Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe"

"Flight Plan" 

increased market share by 8.2%!
