Logo for Group of Eight (G8) Summit in Hokkaido

Submitted by Bill Belew on Friday, 4 January 2008No Comment

The Group of Eight Summit will be held in Lake Toya, Hokkaido on July 7-9 of this year.

Leaders from Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia and the United States will gather on Japan's northernmost main island of Hokkaido.

One of the top agenda items is expected to be the fictitious global warming.

The marketers are in full swing, too.

The official logo has been unveiled.

It was designed by a group of five high school students from Mie Prefecture.

The design beat out 4,198 other entries.

"We expressed the coexistence of the natural environment and human beings on Earth. The logo reveals our hope that the Earth will forever remain a beautiful planet rich in greenery," said Atsuya Kondo, 18.

The logo will be used in decorations, posters and products and will be capitalized on by companies and other organizations.
