Loans – Stupid Need Not Apply
GE Consumer Finance Company in Japan will give discounts to 'intelligent' customers.
Intelligent = good English and/or computer skills and work in "high-value" areas such as the law.
Reasoning – highly skilled workers usually find jobs and keep them and thus less likely to default on a loan.
High test scores on English proficiency tests and officially certified IT skills will allow applicants to get a small discount.
Lawyers, accountants, doctors and financial experts can obtain even further discounts.
Couples that are both employed in the 20 "high-value" professions can
get major rate reductions.
Smart parents and siblings can make mortgages cheaper as well.
Well…that's good news for the smart people….but why is it that the people who need the break in interest rates are the ones who canNOT get it?
But then, I read yesterday…even the rich have a hard time making ends meet. When their Mercedes breaks down or needs new tires, it costs even more to fix and replace them. Million dollar homes need 10s of thousands of dollars in upgrades.
It's all relative I reckon.
Would you qualify for a discount? I am out … not one of the smart guys.
