Like Obama – My Children are Mutts, too

Obama spoke easily when referring to himself “Mutts like me” as if this were some great insight and suddenly we all ought to think, Wow! look how comfortable this semi-black man is with himself.

I am a mutt – French, Scottish, English, Irish.

My children are mutts – throw in that their mother is Japanese.

And we’ve been quite comfortable in our own skin for, well, the whole time.

The AP uses the headline – “Mutts like me’ – Obama shows ease discussing race.”

Opednews – “Mutts Like Me”: A Jewel in Obama’s Friday Press Conference.”

A few things come to mind.

1. So, what?

2. Why would anybody comfortable in their own skin make news?

3. Why would news outlets make a big deal of a person who is comfortable with who he is?

4. Why isn’t everyone at home in their bodies, with their heritage?

Obama is a mutt like me, like my children and like their children will be, too.
