Licensed Beer Testers Wanted

Submitted by Bill Belew on Saturday, 9 June 2007No Comment

Beer-tasting is growing in interest in Japan.

Since 1994, more than 5,000 people have passed the certification exam given by the Japan Craft Beer Association and become certified beer tasters.

The association also gives seminars to teach students how to evaluate beer.

Question: Do students need to be taught how to taste beer?

In the bast four years, the number of interested beer tasters has begun to grow…mostly people in their 30s, workers at restaurants, breweries and liquor sellers.

The best temperature to enjoy the aroma and flavor of beer is 12C, (54F). If it is too cold, the embiber can't know the taste.

The seminars last some 6 hours. Afterwards, participants are required to take test and complete a tasting evaluation IF they can stand still up. Often times students complain about losing their sense of smell after repeated samplings.

They lose their balance and their morals as well.

So, why does beer go through the body so quickly?

Answer: It doesn't need to stop to change colors before it goes out.
