Lead Running Shinzo Abe Makes Secret Visit to War Shrine

Abe shinzo seems to be in line to replace Japan’s current Prime Minister.

Earlier this year, Abe made a secret visit to Yasukuni Shrine in Tokyo in an attempt to appease his conservative domestic backers.

Uh..if it is secret, then why is the word out?

Abe neither confirms nor denies the visit. Then, uh, how will his conservative backers be appeased or not?

South Korea denounced the visit that either took place or didn’t, was a secret or wasn’t.

August 15th is coming. This is the day for the annual visit to the shrine by the Japanese PM.

It is also the day when China and South Korea get very very angry at Japan.

Abe has not said whether he will continue the visits should he become Japan’s next PM. But he has supported PM Koizumi.

He did say, "In a situation where this issue has become a diplomatic and political issue, I have no intent to state whether I have gone or will go."

Then…tell me, what is the point of the visit if he doesn’t want to acknowledge it?

One thing is for sure, no matter which PM goes…secretly or not…it doesn’t bode well for relations between Japan and her Asian neighbors if the neighbors find out.

What do you think?
