Kawasaki Halloween 2008

Come on people, seriously now. It’s Halloween (will be soon anyways), did you really think that the Lolita fashion capital of the world would let the West have all the fun? You’re talking about the land that brought you Anime for goodness sake! People here don’t dress up for celebrations, they celebrate for dressing-up!

So if you’re lucky enough to be in the Land of the rising sun this week, then head on down to Kawasaki (yes, the Kawasaki of motorbikes, Kawasaki). Kawasaki is a town in Tokyo and it’s famous for playing hosts to some of the most eccentric events/festivals(stick around EAF you’re going to want to know more) in Japan. Since it’s Halloween, obviously Kawasaki’s turned up the heat to bring you the largest Halloween celebration in Japan. (Pics after jump)

Basically this is the plan:

  • The Halloween parade will start at 2pm on Sunday the 29th,
  • followed by the costume contest and
  • finally the awarding ceremony which is scheduled for around 3.45pm.
  • Then there’s the after party that goes on till 10pm! (officially anyways cause who’s to say when the fun ends -except maybe the cash and credit line in your wallet)

Winner of the Halloween Award (best costume) wins a trip to Italy!!! How cool is that!

It’s a fun-filled week over at Kawasaki as each day leading up to the event is filled with even more events! -there’s a children parade, Wan-Wan Halloween (that’s the doggie Halloween contest) just to name a few.

Lets take a look at some photos from today’s (26th Oct 2008) celebration:
