Japan used more power in the first six months of this fiscal year than ever before.

Electricity supplied by the nation's 10 major power companies was up 1.9% to 455.1 billion kw/hr.

The seminconductor sector demand and an unusually hot summer are to blame or credit depending on whether you are spending or being paid.

Large industrial users used 4.5% more…the 8th straight time a fiscal half was up on the year.

Nonferrous metal companies – up 10.5%

Chemical firms – up 6%

Machinery manufacturers – up 5.7%

Kyushu Electric Power increase was the most – up 7.9%tohoku.electric.jpg

Tohoku Electric Power jumped 6.7%.

Residential lighting – up 0.4%.

September alone – demand was up 4.2% over last year.

And Japan can't meet its own Kyoto protocol goals.

Any wonder why?
