Japan’s Number One Shopping Web Site Eyes the U.S.
Bad news for eBay and Amazon.com….good news for consumers.
Japan's number one online shopping portal plans to bring its business to the U.S.
Rakuten (easy shopping) boasts an estimated 18 million shoppers in finicky Japan.
If they company can get that many picky Japanese to shop, much
is to be expected when it comes to the less discerning Americans.
Tokyo-based Rakuten also has its eyes on Europe and China.
Growing is what companies do…but I often wonder why would a company want to go somewhere and do something that someone is already doing.
Do they really want to make more money that badly?
In any event…competition is good for the consumer.
What do you think?
Bring it on Rakuten.

Not sure if I should bother commenting here any more, since half a dozen of my recent comments haven’t been approved, but anyway…
Sounds great to me. We’ve already seen that American companies such as Amazon.com can succeed in the Japanese market, so let’s see what happens when one of their most successful sites comes to the US.
