One of Japan’s famous pop singers and actresses, Noriko Sakai, has been appointed as an ambassador of good will between Japan and China for the 2007 Japan-China Culture and Sports Exchange Year.

When interviewed by Xinhua News Agency, Noriko said she was:

1. excited and grateful – excited that Chinese audiences would yell her name at solo concerts.

2. honored – to be a goodwill envoy

3. determined – to promote exchanges between Japan and China

4. hoped – young people would become more interested in one another’s countries

Norikio Sakai sits atop the list of Chinese people’s most favorite Japanese female stars.

The logo making up the heart-shaped emblem – the first letters of China and Japan…kinda neat, eh?

Anything that brings Japan and China closer together is a good thing in my book.

Do you think a star like this can make a difference?
