Japan’s 3 Pledges Regarding Nuke Weapons Despite DPRK’s Dumb Attack
No matter that North Korea blew something up under ground and called it a nuclear explosion.
Japan will stick to its guns or I should say stick to its no-nuke policy.
Japan has three principles regarding nuclear weapons:
1. Japan will not possess them
2. Japan will not produce them
3. Japan will not allow them in the country
That last principle is aimed at the US military, specifically the Navy, who could bring nuclear weapons aboard ships into Japan.
However, the Navy has principles, too. They will neither deny nor confirm the presence of nuclear weapons aboard a Navy ship.
So, did the Navy bring weapons in? I will neither deny nor confirm.
PM Abe, for his part, says Japan will not go nuke. Instead they will seek increased economic sanctions against North Korea and ask the U.N. Security Council for a legally binding security resolution to impose sanctions.
North Korea, meanwhile…is glorying in all the attention. Deserved or not.
What do you think?
