Kobayashi Takeru is an eating machine. Seriously. The guy weighs 78 kilograms (172 lbs) and can eat more than one tenth of his body wieght in one sitting.

Joey Chestnut knew that Kobayashi had scarfed down 69 Kyrstal hamburgers in eight minutes at the inaugaural Kyrstal hamburger eating contest in 2004. So, he practiced.Takeru_kobayashi.jpg

Chestnut ate 91 hamburgers in eight minutes…that’s about one every 12 seconds but Kobayashi ate 97.  Third place went to Pat Bertoletti who ate 76.

Nobody was feeling sore, except for a belly ache, for losing to Kobayashi.

Kobayashi has also downed 49 Nathan’s Hot dogs in 12 minutes.

Other records –

83 vegetarian dumplings in 8 minutes in Hong Kong.

The next day he ate 100 pork buns in 12 minutes.

He ate 58 Brats ( the hot dog kind, not naughty kids) in 10 minutes in Wisconsin.

He ate 41 lobster rolls in 10 minutes in Boston.

He has eaten 17.7 lbs of cow brains in 15 minutes and 20 lbs of rice balls in 30 minutes.

And then he went out for dessert.

The only loss Kobayashi has had was when he ate 31 bunless hotdogs in 2 minutes. His competitor, a Kodiak Bear, ate 50 in the same time period.

I wish I could look like him and eat that much. I look more like the bear before he goes into hibernation.
