Japanese Solution to Trouble Waking Up – 4 Top Selling Alarm Clocks – Clocky, Gun O’clock, Helicopter and Train Station
If anybody has trouble getting up in the morning, it has to be the overworked Japanese office worker, male and female alike.
Japanese ingenuity to the, um, rescue.
Here are four top selling alarm clocks (subscription)- the Clocky, Gun O’clock, Helicopter Alarm clock, Train Station Alarm.
1. The Clocky – the clocky scampers non stop around and around the the room while the alarm shrills until the sleeper gets up and catches it. The sound of the clock is that of Robot R2-D2 at 90 decibels = as loud as the interior of noisy factory.
2. Gun O’clock- when the alarm goes off, the sleeper must find the gun and shoot the target with an infrared red light to stop the alarm. People who really do not want to go to work, often take the gun with them…not.
3. Helicopter Alarm Clock – at the preset time, the rotor launches with an actual sound of a helicopter taking off. The sound does not stop until it is caught and returned to the clock base. Yeah, I’ll bet this’ll wake you up, but nothing about good mood here.
4. Train Station Alarm – the sound of the departure of a train at one of Japan’s train station (Yamanote) wakes up the sleeper. If you have ever had that dream where you were getting on a train in your pajamas or less…this might make it come true.
So, what wakes you up in the morning?
