Japanese Small Businesses Take Aim at India, too
The Japanese and Indian governments are trying to promote more cooperation between Japanese small companies and India.
The Japanese Economy, Trade and Industry Minister and Indian Commerce and Industry Minister signed an agreement to that effect on June 15th.
On the Japanese side, the government aims to –
1. Provide more information about India to small companies with appetite for doing business in India.
2. Support business seminars and trade fairs in each country
3. Send experts to the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association in India
4. Consider providing economic assistance to India to back up firms in industrial parks and special economic zones.
The Japan External Trade Organization opened up an office in Bangalore, India’s Silicon Valley.
The two nations also agree to cooperate on economic development in all of East Asia.
I have a good Japanese friend, an ex-art teacher who was particularly interested in Indian art. She went to India, fell in love and brought her boy-friend back to Japan. The two of them have now run an Indian restaurant for about 10 years.
Small scale, I know. Make that very small scale. But, it does prove these two great countries can work together.
Now, can they do it on a very large scale?
What do you think?
