Japanese Schools - level:teachers:students
Japan has about 41,200 school at 7 different levels - Elementary, Secondary, Junior high, Senior high, Technical, Junior college and University.
Altogether there are 17,800,000 students in these schools being taught by nearly 1,100,000 teachers at private, public and nationally public (college level) schools.
There are 726 four year universities with 2.9 million students taught by 160,000 faculty members.
There are 480 junior colleges with 220,000 students taught by 12,000 faculty
members.
Japan has just 63 technical schools with 60,000 students taught by 4,500 instructors.
Senior and junior high schools have 3.6 million students each taught by 250,000 teachers.
There are 23,000 elementary schools with 7.2 million students taught by 420,000 teachers.
I sent my kids to elementary school and junior high in Japan. After that the attention turns to preparing students to test to get into university so they can waste four years of their lives.
Both of my kids did the last years of high school and college in the states.
I wonder what other expats in Japan are doing with their kids?
Stories?
