Japanese Rice Costs 20x Chinese Rice – Sells Out

Posted by Bill Belew on December 4th, 2007 in Japan | No Comments

Japanese sent rice to China – 24 tons of it.

Stores in Beijing and Shanghai sold the stuff at a price 20 times higher than rice produced in China.

It still sold out. Poof! Gone!

China is ready for another batch of 150 tons. Please send before next March.

Japan, for its part, will take immediate action to lift import bans on Chinese pumpkins and Chinese artiodactyl meat products. Artiodactyl animal is a hoofed

animal with an even number of toes. Yeah, I had to look it up.japanese.rice.chinese.jpg

The two sides are also working on quarantine and inspection techniques so that other bans may be lifted – frozen raw poultry meat – for example.

And the Chinese and Japanese relations go hhmmmm….

What do you think Japan needs most from China?

China needs from Japan?
