WAO-1 Robot Gives Facial Massages

The WAO-1 Robot ( Waseda Asahi Oral Rehabilitation Robot 1) – I think I could have guessed the Robot 1 part – was being developed for patients with jaw-related medical problems. Howeve, there may be a market for it in hospitals and spas across Japan says its research team.

Waseda University, one of Japan's best, in cahoots with Asahi University has developed a robot – steely arms, cables and wires and vice like grips, that can  give facials – beauty treatment and relaxation.

Ceramic golf ball-sized spheres roll over the skin…smash the face…bend the

nose…pinch the ears…and press tightly on the temples.wao-1.jpg

Six sensors at the base of the arms measure and adjust the pressure.

Let's hope there is no power surge when R2D2 is on my face.

I want the beauty treatment!!

Lord knows, I need it.

Government safety approval is needed before WAO-1 shows up in hospitals.

With the people shortage looming in Japan…robots are the replacement.

Would you like to have a robot massage your face?
