Sony Corp announced that together with an investment fund it will set up a new company with 25 billion yen ($230 million) in capital.

The company, Field Emission Technologies, Inc. will focus on developing advanced displays for flat-panel TVs.

Field Emission Technologies will be established on Dec. 18th. and be based insony-flat-panel-tv.jpg Tokyo.

The company will study until June 2008 to determine whether or not the display can be manufactured and sold commerically.

Sony sucked up a giant loss in the battery recall fiasco. The company is a couple of years away from getting its money back on PS3.

And, it still has $230 million that it can invest in this project.

I don't think Sony is hurting.

What do you think?
