NTT DoCoMo Told to Learn How to Count

NTT DoCoMo Inc has been given lessons on how to count.

2-in-1 means one with two, NOT two.

DoCoMo has a new service will allows single cellular phones to have two numbers and two email address.

The company counts them as two subscribers. Meaning…when DoCoMo logged 82,700 new subscribers in May they didn't consider that about 10,000 of them just opted for the second number and email address.

Softbank Mobile cried 'Foul!' The rival complained to the minisry of Communications that DoCoMo's way of counting hurts the credibility of the figures.

The Communications Ministry

agreed.

DoCoMo wants to allow the accounts to be under different names – a business and an individual – but to share the same cell phone…thus two lines.

The jury is still out.

Why not have DoCoMo report the number of 2-in-1 subscribers, too?

And, we'll call it even.
