NTT DoCoMo Tests Cellular Network Which is 100 Times Faster Than Norm

Japan's NTT DoCoMo Inc. is the largest mobile phone network in the country.

It is about to become the fastest…100 times faster than it's current speed.

Present max speeds of 3.6 megabits per second are about to hit 300 megabits per second.

The new network is scheduled to be up and running by 2009. Early? Late?

Voice services competition is at a dead heat. DoCoMo and rivals want to capture more business by turning to data-based services…which need more bandwidth.ntt.docomo.speed.jpg

At 300 megabits per sec…NTT will have a big advantage over its competitors. Until they catch up…that is…which usually isn't too long afterwards in Japan.

I wish I could get that kind of speed on my

home PC.

Maybe…maybe I'll move back to Japan.

So I can get a faster cell phone?  Nah….
