Mitsui Engineering Lifts Biothenol Output Fourfold

Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co. has found a way to boost the output of bioethanol used an alternative fuel by 400% compared to conventional methods.

Mitsui's unique process involves using a special yeast developed in house for the fermentation of sugars.

Efficiency is enhanced by allowing the yeast to remain active under high temps and other extreme conditions.

The result…bioethanol output is 20 grams per liter instead of 5.bioethanol.japan.jpg

Mitsui Engineering already has an order for equipment capable of producing 1,000kl of bioethanol annually using rice as a raw material.

I wonder how much we can get out of koshihikari rice.

Do you think there is a real future for bioethanol?
