“Magic Carpet” developed by Tokyo University

A University of Tokyo research group has developed a "magic carpet."

No kidding.

The user gets the feeling of walking around in a virtual reality when s/he wears a small camera fitted to the waist on a specially marked paper carpet. (doesn't sound too durable.)

When the wearer moves about s/he will see a virtual world – changes in the background of a city generated by computer graphics.

Stretching and bending can create changes as well.

The creators see uses for the device in games and virtual worlds like Japan's Second Life.magic.carpet.japan.jpg

People are having enough trouble in real life…what in world are they going to be doing in a second life virtual world?

Seriously?
