Humanoids Do Dishes, Serve Tea

Humanoids are serving tea and washing dishes…and the best part, though slower than a human, says a professor of Tokyo University, "You don't have to say thank you. You don't have to feel bad about asking it to do things."

Yea…and you don't get to feel good either…when someone does something nice for you, or does something for you because they are committed to you….or, good grief, does something because they love you.

There must be a better reason for creating humanoids – how about doing things people cannot do, helping the disabled, going where humans cannot go, to rescuse, put out a fire, or so.

Honda has a walking child-size robot, Asimo, that greets people in show rooms.

NEC has a companion robot on wheels called Papero. It is fuzzy and looks like a seal.

Sato has an experimental room that senses when someone enters, adjusts the lightings, and turns on music of preference. I though Bill Gates' house already could do that.

Can they teach a robot to clean the toilet, make a bed, go to the supermarket?

But, if robots can do everything, then what will the humans do?
