Hitachi Develops Portable Fuel Cell

Hitachi Ltd has made a portable fuel cell that can be used to generate power outdoors….construction sites and camp grounds.

A fuel cell power generator is cheaper, quieter and has to way a whole lot less than a gasoline-based power generator.

Clients will tell the battery starting next year with commercializing it to follow after that.

Fuel-cells used to power vehicles and homes are too big.

This portable fuel-cell generator is 24cm x 43.5cm x 20cm. The test versionfuel.cell.generator.jpg weighs just 10kg.

With 800ml of methanol (generates less CO2 and is cheaper than gasoline), it can supply 100 watts of electricity for three hours.

Lantern?

Check.

Sleeping bags?

Cooler?

Fuel-cell generator?

Huh?

Does this sound like something you want to take camping with you?
