Bridgestone Tires Have Safety Sensors

Bridgestone Corp has new tires with censors that detect road conditions and the movement of the vehicle being driven.

There are two types of censors –

strain sensors – measure tire deformation

acceleration sensors – detect acceleration in various directions

Depending on if a road is dry, wet or snowy – the conditions can be determined from vibration data unique to each type of road condition.

The technology can then determine dangerous conditions, such as black ice, and sound an alarm which will warn the driver.

The driver can react AND in the future the technology will be linked with electronicbridgestone.tire.censor.jpg stability controls which control the engine, brakes and steering wheel to keep the car from going out of control.

But, can the tire change itself if it goes flat?
