3 Reasons to Buy Tomy’s Omnibot 17mu i-Sobot for Dad’s Christmas Present

Tomy's Omnibot 17mu i-Sobot is a robot for the 30- and 40-year old dads in Japan

The 6" robot, priced at Y31,290 ($300ish) walks like a human, moves its arms and legs and has 17 small servo motors to allow it to do other complex actions.

It's not a Sony Corp Aibo or a Honda Motor biped robot.

It's three main differences:

1. affordable

2. no-assembly-required

3. easy to operatetomi.omnibot.gif

It was also certified as "the smallest humanoid robot in production" by Guinness World Records.

Tomy expects to sell more than twice their initial goal, or more than 50,000 units.

Japan is an "anime" robot revival. The kids who used to play with transformers are now adult dads. Hmm…

Some say it's a dad-son bonding thing.

I'll go with kids who don't want to grow up just yet, or ever.

What do you think?
