Japanese Prime Minister Koizumi comes A-calling on Bush

Japan’s popular and soon to be ex-prime minister Koizumi Junichiro is coming to visit President Bush later this month…about a week later – June 29th.

After they discuss the usual (Not the Yasukuni shring – America really doesn’t care) the PM and the Prez will make a trip down south – to Memphis – to Graceland.

It seems the Japan’s PM is an Elvis Presley fan. I wonder if Koizumi knows that Elvis was in San Francisco last weekend. I saw him there.

What is unique about Japan’s PM is that he can speak English; he can communicate in English. He knows "this is a pen" is not a greeting.

This gives him a lot of credibility in the eyes of other world leaders AND the Japanese reporters have to scramble to find out what it is he is saying.

I taught English to Japanese for many years and it is no secret that the Japanese have a particularly difficult time learning to communicate with spoken English.

There are many reasons for this, of which, PM Koizumi doesn’t have to concern himself with.

I hope the meeting goes well.

How about you?
