A Japanese Foreign Ministry official will assume the top post for an info gathering body that will be set up in Singapore that will fight piracy.

Nope…not that kind of piracy…the real kind. Pirates of the Caribbean kind.

There are pirates in the Strait of Malacca.asian pirate.jpg

Tokyo will send the Japanese Coast Guard to help out making Japan a major player in the fight.

16 Asian nations have voted to form an antipiracy pact. Exciting, eh?  A pact against the pirates.

Japan, Singapore, South Korea and India are in on the pact. Malaysia and Indonesia have yet to ratify it.

The antipiracy center will start up the end of this month.

cool, eh? I wish I could have the job of cutting down on real pirates….especially if I had a few nation’s volunteering their coast guards to help out.

What do you think?
