Japanese Bureaucrat Reprimanded for Keeping Wikipedia Up to Date on Toy Robots
A Japanese worker was rapped on the knuckles for using office time to keep wikipedia up to date on toy robots.
The man contributed more then 260 times to the Japanese-language Wikipedia on Gundam – the long running and popular series about giant robots.
Five other bureaucrats were also verbally reprimanded for contributing "to entries on movies, typographical mistakes in billboard signs and local politics." 408 of them altogether.
Apparently there were others who contributed as well.![]()
"The agriculture ministry is not in charge of Gundam," said a ministry official.
Consequently, the ministry issued an order prohibiting employees from accessing Wikipedia at work and also disabled access to the site.
