Japanese Body Language – 気がつく

気がつく [きがつく, ki ga tsuku] regain consciousness; notice

This is a phrase I heard a lot.

He noticed this. She noticed that. I noticed that.

Somebody did such and such and you noticed.

As far as regaining consciousness goes, once the car in front of me rolled over into a ditch. I reached in and fished out a young college girl who had lost consciousness. I ended up carrying her to a house where we called an ambulance. By the time they arrived, she had regained consciousness.

Yup, this is what they were saying.

Hopefully, you will never have to hear it used or use it yourself in that context.
