Japanese Body Language – 気が進まない

気が進まない [きがすすまない, ki ga susumanai] be unwilling to do; be reluctant to do; be in no mood to

I had a girlfriend in Japan once who turned out to be somewhat of a deadbeat. It took me a while to figure it out and in the end I am glad I did.

Too often I asked her if she would like to go somewhere, do something, see something and she responded with this phrase.

She just couldn't get in the mood to, no not THAT, to get up and go. She was just lazy, I reckon.

Or maybe it was just me she didn't want to do things with.

Hmm….
