Japanese Anime Headed for Hollywood
Hollywood has successfully remade "The Grudge," "The Ring" or "Shall We Dance" and lately has done well with flicks about Japan – "Letters From Iwo Jima" and "Memoirs of a Geisha," "Last Samurai" and so on.
Now, Hollywood wants to try turning a mid-60s animation series "Mach Go Go" into a Hollywood film.
Hollywood has the Wachowski Brothers, of "Matrix" fame directing, Emile Hirsch playing the title character, Christina Ricci, his sidekick, Susan Sarandon and John Goodman are Speed's parents.![]()
At one time, Johnny Depp was to play the part, but the deal fell apart some 15 years ago.
A premiere is planned for May 9, 2008.
What next? Sailor Moon? Dragon Ball Z? On the big screen?
