The China-Japan Friendship Hospital figures that when people get sick, they want to go to the hospital….now.
They don't generally have local or family doctors in Japan or China. You get sick…you head to the hospital. Sometimes, you might find a clinic…but, usually, it's the hospital.
Japanese in China on business need/want to know where they can go when the time comes.
On a membership basis, the China-Japan Friendship Hospital will have a call center to refer people to the nearest hospital that has a Japanese-speaking staff and/or the best hospital for treating certain symptoms.![]()
The service is limited to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Dalian and Shenzhen.
In the rural areas, you are on your own….but you can always write the disease in kanji/hanzi. Many of the characters are similar or at least legible.
