Japan Will Sell Domain Names Ending with 日本
Japan will sell domain names ending with 日本 .
I want one!
Presently, Japan has 1.05 million domain names using “.jp” as the country code.
The Japan Registry Service Co oversees registration of domain names. By June 2009 the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications hope that by adding 日本 (nihon, nippon) to the options, lower registration fees will follow because of increased competition.
Chinese characters in Japan are called kanji. In Chinese, hanzi.
But, tell me, will only people who can type the characters be able to find the domains? Meaning only Chinese, Japanese and Koreans will be able to search those sites.
On second thought, maybe I don’t want one.
