Japan Wants to Throw Things Back at North Korea
The North Koreans threw their missiles in the direction of Japan. Now Japan is wondering if they should throw something back at them.
When Japan lost the war, their constitution was rewritten. One of the key points was that Japan gave up its right, in writing, to settle international disputes by force.
In essence, Japan said it would not go to war any more. But…there is always a ‘but’.
Japan has not given up the right to defend itself. And, if Japan things striking at North Korea, even pre-emptively is an act of self-defense, well, then…it can throw things back at North Korea.
The difference, of course, is if Japan throws something at North Korea they will hit it.
North Korea, for its part, hopes Japan will move UNDER its missiles when they (N. Korea) throws something. That will be their best bet at hitting anything.
Japan does not have the capability to launch long range missiles, but they do have the money and a friend in the US if they want to buy the technology.
North Korea has opened a can of worms.
More than 80% of Japanese say they are fearful or somewhat fearful of North Korea and their missiles.
Japan thinks that may be enough for them to say they want to do something – in self-defense – before something is done to them.
