Japan beat Taiwan to secure a ticket to the Olympics baseball competiton next year – the last in the Olympics.

Japan won for the third straight time, beating Philippines, South Korea and Taiwan in the Asian Olympic Qualifying Tournament.

The star for Japan – Hiroshima Toyo Carp's Takahiro Arai.

Another qualifying tournment will be played next March to give Taiwan and Korea another chance.

The Philippine team has no chance.

The Olympics will not have baseball after next year's games.

And, nobody in the U.S. will be sad to not see their team get beat.

To think, that baseball was born in America. Teams like the Yankees have a bigger payroll than all of the teams combined in Japan, Taiwan and Korea.

Hard work and skill still count for something.

Do you follow baseball?
