Japan and China Want Nuclear Power Cooperation

This news ought to get all the anti-nuke activists underwear in a knot.

Japan and China are trying to put together an action plan by the end of this year that would pave the way for full-fledged cooperation on nuclear power for civilian purposes, and a provision that would prevent the technology from being diverted to third parties…read North Korea.

China wants to build more nuclear reactors. Japan wants in on the action.nuclear.power.jpg

Japan also wants Beijing to swear on a stack of Bibles…or maybe the writings of Confucius, that China will NOT infringe on intellectual property rights of the technology involved.

If Japan is worried about China stealing the property rights, in other words, doesn't trust China, both countries will be hard pressed to work out an arrangement.

How can two parties work together if they do NOT trust each other?

What do you think?
