Honda Motor Co. will begin marketing its hybrid Civic in China this year making it the second company to sell hybrids….yeah, Toyota Motor Corp was first.

Dongfeng Honda Automobiile Co and Dongfeng Motor Corp applied to the Chinese government to import Honda's Hybrid Civic.

The modified version of the Civic which is sold in the United States will be sold in China.

Eventually, Honda will manufacture the car locally for the Chinese market.china.civic.hybrid.jpg

The Honda Civic will be about 50,000 yuan cheaper

than the Toyota Prius.

Once production starts in China, the price difference will grow more…another 40,000 yuan.

China needs the hybrids. Toyota needs the competition.

In the end, the Chinese consumer will win.
