Honda Fit Top Seller in November
For the first time in more than four years a non-mini car (660cc engine) was on top of the auto sales charts in Japan – the Honda Motor Co.'s remodeled Fit subcompact.
The Fit was the top-selling vehicle in November, according to the Japan Automobile Dealers Association.
Fit sales were up 146.8% over a year earlier – 18,138 units last month.
The remodeled version is replacing the first-generation Fit which had total sales of nearly 1 million units in Japan.
Suzuki Motor Corp.'s Wagon R minivehicle was the top seller for nine straight months. Last month is was number two despited sales climbing 13.7% to 16,947 units.
Honda's Fit also retook the No. 1 position for the first time in 14 months from Toyota Motor Corp.'s Corolla.
Toyota cars took five of the top 10 ispots.
Suzuki's Wagon R is still the popular vehicle in Japan for the year.
It is outselling Daihatsu Motor Co.'s Move minicar by more than 12,000 units.
The Suzuki Wagon R will be the best selling car for the fourth year in a row.
