Honda Admits Odometers Run Fast

Honda Motor Co. has 'fessed up that Honda and Acura owners may be entitled to warranty extensions and that lease owners may have been overcharged unnessarily.

Some Honda cars register as much as 3.75 miles MORE per 100 miles than actually driven. THAT would explain the good mileage these cars get.

Nissan is not off the hook with USA Today reporting their cars run up 2.5 to 3 miles too many per 100.

Toyota cars routinely register few miles than actually driven. That means the Prius gets even more miles and miles and miles and miles per gallon.odometer.jpg

Detroit brands are said to be spot on.

The Society of Automotive Engineers' voluntary standard is plus or minus 4 percent, or no more than 4 miles high or low in every 100 miles.

And, I thought the Japanese were always very meticulous in their attention detail.

Would you complain if your odometer was off by 3-4%? Would you even notice?
