Hitachi Making Couch Potato’s Dream a Reality

Submitted by Bill Belew on Monday, 25 June 2007No Comment

Japan's electronics giant, Hitachi, is working on a "brain-machine interface" that will analyze slight changes in the brain's blood flow, then translate that brain motion into electric signals.

Hitachi's Advanced Research Laboratory in Hatoyama put the device on display last week.

A train set was used for a demonstration. Think 'stop' and it stopped. Think 'go' and it went.

Scientists are wanting to use the technology for medical research.brain.machine.interface.jpg

Hitachi says, they just want to develop a TV remote controller that will let users switch channels by thought.

"You mean we still have to think? Why can't the

tube just know what it is I want to watch. Dang!"

Just how lazy is too lazy?
