Ginren Card Welcomed by Japanese Retailers
Japanese retailers are quite happy to accept the Ginren card issued by Chinese banks.
What better way to get people to spend too much money than to encourage them to use magic money so they can't keep track of it?
Chinese customers outspend the Japanese by a large margin when they come to Japan to go shopping.
By the end of this fiscal year, March 2008, some 10,000 stores are expected to accept the Ginren card.
Some 1.3 billion Ginren cards have been issued.
Last year, some 4,500 hotels began accepting the service.
Until now, conventional home appliance and department stores accepted the card.
In the future – bars and men's shops – Aoyama Trading Co. the largest men's wear specialty chain, and Monteroza Inc. which runs Japan's largest pub chain.
The average spending with a Ginren card is about 30,000 yen, some three times that of the average Japanese shopper.![]()
It's going to take a long time for Chinese shoppers to figure out the evils of the card….and there are lots of shoppers to come and go to figure it out as well.
No wonder the retailers are eager to use the card.
